Can I tow with a full size SUV

Would it be possible to safely tow with a large SUV such as a Tahoe, Expedition, or a Sequoia? Or would you still damage components such as the engine or transmission?

If it is within towing capacity, you are fine, but for sure you will put more strain on the transmission.

What does the owner’s manual say regarding towing capability?

exactly. This is what manuals are for.

Yes, just depends on how much you are towing and how often.  But those should be able to tow 5,000 lbs, give or take.  You will need to change the powertrain fluids more often.

Tahoe and the Sequoia are pretty much the same in terms of towing capacity though the Tahoe does have slightly more towing capacity but it sounds like they’re literally breaking down at 5,000 miles due to the pushrods and the transmission is breaking down at 30k miles. The downside of course to the Sequoia is of course how outdated it is and the fact that it doesn’t have as much towing tech as the others. If I were towing with a full sized SUV I’d choose the Expedition due to it having the best towing capacity currently in the Industry and it having the best torque even compared to the GM 6.2 V8 and Ford has definitely included some nice towing features borrowed from the F-150. Another truck I’d choose is the Jeep Wagoneer since best towing capacity and has nice towing features such as a gear limiter and the transmission that will be used is a lot more reliable than GM/Ford’s 10 speed. It’s not on market yet and it’s a Chrysler so reliability is a big question mark but they did say reliability was very important when they designed it to them and the customer so I have complete confidence that it will be more reliable than the Tahoe but that doesn’t take much.
