Can people be more unreliable than cars?

Hey Scotty,

Do you sometimes think that people can be more unreliable than cars (any make or model)? I find that while there are good cars and bad cars out there, there are some very reliable people that can have good or bad cars that take care of them and go a long way and unreliable people (very common nowadays) can have good or bad cars and they don't go a long way because they don't know what they are doing or they don't care at all about maintenance.

I have a sister and a brother, who over the last 50 years have never gotten more than 50k miles out of any of their cars.

Myself and a different brother routinely get 250k or more out of cars. So, I'd agree.

Cars seem to be getting more and more disposable, whether it is a good quality car or not.

And in my part of the woods, a car is totally a status symbol, so the latest and greatest luxury brand is what most people get.

Getting a Corolla or Civic is laughed at.

I'm so glad that idgaf about what people think

Yes. I can see what you mean by that. Most people today have shifted from taking care of their cars to "we want technology in cars".

Of course

Oh yes. So many bad stories of people killing a car far before it should have died.

One lady I know waited to change her timing belt in her Jetta, because she said she couldn't afford it. I told her how much it would cost if it broke. She managed to buy chrsitmas gifts for her family, and then got to rebuild her engine for $1900 after it broke on a trip.

Another young lady I worked with waited to change the oil in her f-150 until the gas mileage got notably worse. I was like, wow, what kind of sludgy oil is in your truck?
