I am convinced my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country (178K miles) needs a new computer. A couple of companies out there advertise with the VIN number they can provide a computer with factory settings for your particular vehicle. I am assuming the key will work. What do you think? Legit?

After putting a new computer, your key(s) should be reprogrammed. If you have not done it, you may not be able to start the car.
