Car Delivery Frequent Start-Ups

Hi Scotty. I work in food delivery, and constantly have to get in and out of my car to pick up and drop off orders. In busy areas, I always shut off the car and take the keys with me so that I’m able to lock the vehicle behind me.

I know you’d said that start up is what causes the most wear on an engine, but I would like my car to last a really long time. I had gotten the idea to install a remote starter from a reputable car stereo shop, but I’ve seen that you’ve generally advised against this. This would require me to tamper with my electronic system, but what I would gain is the ability to lock my car while it is still running so that I don’t have to turn it on/off anywhere near as much.

Any suggestions? I drive a 2010 Toyota Corolla with 30k miles

That's why I like old technology in the old days you can just have a spare key and you can lock the door and leave the car running but my cars have all that electronic crap on them generally they won't let you do that. Maybe get a fake mannequin to sit in the car so it looks like somebody sitting in the car so no one will steal it
