Hey Scotty! Just got a 2008 Ford Ranger 4L and noticed something. If I put the truck in Drive without pressing the gas, it doesn't move forward on it's own. When I press the gas it has no problem taking off though. The engine and transmission are both working well. I've been driving pretty new vehicles up till now so I wonder if this is just normal on an older truck?
Many thanks! And more questions to come as I want to do projects on this old beast 🙂

Every automatic transmission car should "creep" or idle roll when you put it in gear and take your foot off the brake. Check your parking brake cable and make sure it's not sticking. My '99 Ranger did this after I used the parking brake. I've since repaired it.
Also check that your brake shoes are adjusted properly in the rear end, and make sure your caliper guide pins aren't sticking in the front. These can all cause a car to not idle roll and it will decrease your gas mileage, providing there's nothing wrong with your transmission.
