Car for college

Scotty, I`m a 50 year old man. I started working on my dad`s old cars back in the 70`s using a Chiltons manual, a timing light and a tach and dwell meter. I`m a decent shade tree mechanic on older cars that have little to no computer controlled equipment. My 2nd kid is going to go off to college next May and I wanted to know what make and model of older car you recommend I get for her keeping in mind that we don`t have a lot of money for repairs. Just for reference I drive a 2 wheel drive 1999 2500 GMC pickup with 75K miles that I have never done any major repairs to. Even the plugs and plug wires in my truck are still original. Original as in never having been replaced. Thank you.

College is expensive why the vehicle? I am 60, was not able to pay off my Canadian student loan until 1990. Never had a car in school. Give her your GMC. I have, since new a 1996 Chevy 5.7 C1500, and still with the OEM plugs and wires. Very good trucks for that CIRCA. And gas is cheap (for now). With your skill set you can get a beater. Just my helpful thoughts.
