Hi, Scotty I have a 2003 toyota camry with a 4 cilindar engine it looses a little bit of coolant I opened the radiator cap and the seal was warped what would cause that. I put on a aftermarket one and now I see a little steam coming out of the radiator cap I drove it 3 miles and it was 3-4 oz low again.
Your radiator cap isn't fitting right and water in the coolant is boiling off. Look at your radiator neck. Is it warped or distorted? You might need to replace your radiator if it's the original. They wear out, and that one is 19 years old.
Thanks, so you would say noting major is wrong with it like head gasket or head bolts loose
As long as you never ran seriously low on coolant and overheated it, the head gasket should be fine. Head bolts won't loosen. They're torqued so tightly, they stretch. That's why they need to be replaced when you remove the head 🙂
Nope I have never seen the temp gauge over the middle ever. Thank you so much
Losing a little over time is normal. Is the radiator cap original? If so I would think about replacing it. If the radiator neck is warped you will need to replace the radiator as well.
