Car over heat when AC is on in traffic

Hi Scotty,

I have 1998 4Runner with 244,000 miles automatic.  My AC compressor went and my mechanic just installed a new Denso AC compressor.   But now when AC is on and I'm in traffic I see the temperature rising and I need to turn the AC off.  Overheating doesn't happen on highway speed with increase air flow but the strange thing is it also doesn't over heat when I park and have the AC on for 10 mins.  What can be the issue weak fan?

Second question when i have the AC on i notice the driver side floor is wet.  I had my mechanic spray compressed air in the condensation hole some water came out but my driver floor still get wet after driving with AC on.

Thank you

Peter

The overheating problem is likely due to a malfunctioning fan.

If you're getting AC condensation on the floor the drain is still clogged or there's a leak in the evaporator housing.

The fan is on and the strange thing is when I park and the car is still running with the AC for 10 mins it didn't overheat.

I had the mechanic spray compressed air today again and I will check to see if the floor get wet again
Thanks for you comment

Especially given that you're talking about a 25-year-old vehicle here also check the radiator for clogs. Other possibilities would include an electric cooling fan running too slow, a worn fan clutch on a mechanical cooling fan, missing or damaged fan shroud, a thermostat that is stuck partly closed and restricting flow, coolant too low, air in the cooling system, or a water pump with a loose or deteriorated impeller. Clearly there is a problem with the cooling system.
