Hi Scotty and All,
I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze 1.4 L. LS. Have had engine stop in the middle of driving on back roads and highway doing between 35 - 45 mph. Mileage was around 60K. It first happened on very cold day in January 2023 in CT. No warning lights, everything shut down, no headlights, no radio, no dash board lights, but did get a dash board reading check air bag. After about 3-5 minutes I tried to start again and it started right up. Took it to mechanic and there were no codes.
2nd time the engine died was September 2023, had just got off highway going 65 for 1.5 hours approximately. It was dark and I was on a back road, headlights and all electrical shut off. Emergency flashers were only thing that worked. I kept trying to start the engine and after 5 minutes it started up again. Again I took to the mechanic and no codes appeared.
I read on the internet that the earlier Cruze’s could have a bad negative battery cable that would fail and no power could be had. Note the battery was 2 years old and had no issues in starting. I replaced the negative battery cable in October 2023. All appear fine for 1 month. A few days ago the 3rd stall happened, Nov 25th, 2023. I don’t think it is the fuel pump because all dash lights do not come on. It must be something electrical. Have you heard of other Cruze’s having this issue? All HELP welcome!
