I Have A 99 Mitsubishi Mirage Automatic Transmission.. I Have Noticed A Change With The Car.
It Begins to Vibrate When I Shift Gear To Drive Or Reverse Mode..
But Begins To Become Silent When I Accelerate ..
I Can Feel It In The Steering, Driver Seat and Sometimes When Door..
So To Speak, When I Stop In Traffic, Vibration Starts But
Becomes Silent When In Parking Or Neutral Mode..
Is It Normal..??
What Could Possibly Be The Problem..?
It is not normal. The torque converter is not functioning correctly. Just live with it since it cost a fortune to fix. In fact, Scotty's old Celica does the same thing and Scotty lives with it. He says, he will put the car in neutral in traffic to avoid the shaking.
Hi Yaser.. Thankyou For Replying Me..
I Want To Ask Again That Will It Affect The Performance Of the Car..
Like the Acceleration ?
No, it does not.
Hello Again..
so there is nothing I can do to stop my steer from shaking…?
Usually it is the only place that vibrates heavily & sometimes producing some funny sounds..
As I said, put the gear into Neutral.
Thanks Yaser For Your Assistance.. I Just Posted A another Question On Slow acceleration.. Can You Have A Look For Me..?
You might also want to check your engine and transmission mounts for cracks and deterioration.
I’d start here too, before worrying about the big items like the torque converter.
