Car won't shift into any gear

Hey Scotty. I have a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6 automatic with 55,061 miles yesterday as I got back home I pulled up on the driveway attempting to put my car into park when I let go of the brake the car rolled back and I had to slam on the emergency brake. My shifter moves loosely without felling any resistance it won't go into park and the dash still says it's in Drive no warning lights no trouble codes. Help.

it’s very common for shift cables / linkages / the range sensor it self to fail on Nissans.

If the range selection is done electronically, which may be the case, it’s probably an internal fault in the lever.

If you’re going to tow it, please get it out of gear first. If not possible to get it into N, use a flat bed.

(Also, before shifting into Park, always extend the parking brake first!)
