I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla automatic, with 118,000 mi. My check engine light came on after adding Lucas High Mileage Fuel Treatment 2 fillups ago. Went to AutoZone, OBD code P420 reading. I checked with my reader, same code, it wouldn't reset. AutoZone recommended I try Cataclean Exhaust & Fuel Cleaner. Does anyone have any experience with this and what were the results?
It would be nice if Scotty would give his opinion on this. I saw his video on the lacquer & detergent treatments, but that's too involved for me. Thanks
You will find a thread and Scotty's opinion about P0420 in our FAQ.

usually does nothing.

usually the solution is to replace the catalytic converter, but you should be asking why it's happened already at 120k miles. It can point to issues with the engine. Does it run rich or have you had misfiring in the past?

these fuel treatments will dislodge old built up residues and varnishes, and send it downstream where it can end up in the CC. Maybe it will burn out over time. Maybe not.
