ebikes are all the rage now

Some of the really good ones (range and power) are easily >$1,500. The one I have is OK and cost me $1,100.

even non-electric ones can go that high. Mine is pedal powered because I need the exercise.

1500 won't get you much. You might want to put a bit more down maybe for 2000-2500ish you could get a 1997-2001 Camry or 2003-2008 Corolla in ok shape with some negotiation.

Go older and you might get a deal just keep on looking on craigslist. Look for cars that have existing cosmetic issues rather than mechanical issues, because some sacrifices to be made at the price point.

Sorry about your Chevy btw.

I'm sorry to hear about that. You may consider older Corollas.

Try looking for Ford's Panther platform cars - Lincoln Town Car, Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis. There are a lot of them out there with much lower miles than a $1500 Honda or Toyota. The only downside to those is poor gas mileage because of the big V8s, but they are very reliable.

Sorry to hear about that. That hella sucks.

If you don't care too much about years or styling and whatnot the honda civics are where it's at for everyday commuters and you can find em super cheap everywhere. My friend got his 99 hatchback manual from a yard, granted it was salvage but no airbags and no bent frame for $1k. Only had 90k miles so after helping him look it over wasn't a bad deal.
