Hi Scotty. Happy Birthday. I just recently bought a 2013 Toyota Highlander SE with 143,000 from the original owners. The car only came with 1 black key, 1 grey key, and 1 key fob. It does not have push to start. I've asked the owners about the other black key and fob, and they told me they never had it..only what they gave me.
I have a key fob that looks identical (as far as the button configuration) from my 2010 Toyota Sienna.
I'm looking to buy a scanner that'll program the key fob.
What do you recommend for an inexpensive scan tool to program key fobs? Thank you.
Unfortunately, there aren't any cheap cheap scan tools that will program that key correctly. And realize a mobileers are different in different years. It might not even have the same immobilizer inside it. Your old key. You better just to go to a locksmith that does that stuff ones that you can go to their store with your keys and they can program it on the spot
@scottykilmer Thank you for the answer. While looking through your tools (Scotty's garage>Diagnostic tools) I saw the Launch
LAUNCH Creader Elite 3.0 Full Bi-Directional OBD2 Scanner for Toyota/Lexus | Full-System Diagnostic Scan...AND it does say key programming for $189. That's a lot cheaper than the dealer's cost>$98 for the fob+almost $300 to program it.
Remember I'm only looking for a second FOB...no key, just to have a spare if something should happen to the original.
