Hi Scotty. My 2011 Toyota Prius with 115,000 miles had a message on the display panel this morning when I started the car that said "check hybrid system."
I watched a couple of YouTube videos, not yours... that instructed me too reset the system by first unplugging something orange in the trunk. I watch your YouTube channel with my wife and she said not to unplug it since Scotty said there are a cajillion volts going through anything orange in the Prius.
Since I've been working from home, the car's been sitting up a long time. The car runs and drives fine.
What do you think it could be? Should I bring the car in for servicing or try to reset it by following the other mechanics YouTube video?
Thanks
Yes be very careful messing with the battery! I would take a quick look at the coolant, it has coolant for the gas engine, but also for the hybrid system. When you started it, was the battery completely depleted, or what level was it at? Hopefully it is just mad because the battery was depleted for sitting too long.
