Chevy Aveo 2010 lt high rpm and late acceleration

Topic starter

I have a Chevy Aveo 2010 lt that gets up to an rpm of about 3000 when speeding up to 20-40miles an hour than it can get up to 5000-6000 when speeding up to about 60 and up is that normal for this car I purchased it not long ago, also I was wondering if it’s normal for my pedal to have late acceleration when I go to speed up past 40miles an hour you have to press the pedal all the way down but it takes a second for it to accelerate and you can hear the engine rev when it does I didn’t know if it’s cause it was a slower car or an issue with the vehicle.

thank you

Evap code p0456

See possible causes and diagnostic information for that code in the links below:

(If you're lucky it could be something as simple as a bad gas cap.)

what exactly do you mean by fuel trims?

That's part of the live data stream. Fuel trims basically show whether the computer is adding or subtracting an abnormal amount of fuel due to problems affecting the mixture:

Fuel trims can sometimes give clues as to why an engine is not running properly, if that's suspected.

As far as the acceleration problem you are experiencing does it feel like the transmission is slipping? You said the car was purchased pretty recently. Did this problem show up during the pre-purchase inspection?

Check page 3-24 of your owner's manual. This may be pertinent to the symptom you are experiencing:

Notice: If the vehicle seems to start up rather slowly or not shift gears when you go faster, and you continue to drive the vehicle that way, you could damage the transmission. Have the vehicle serviced right away. You can drive in 2 (Second) when you are driving less than 35 mph (55 km/h) and D4 (Automatic Overdrive) for higher speeds until then.

Does your transmission have sufficient fluid? What is its condition?

It might help a little if you would reveal what the "evap code" is, what diagnostic steps you have taken so far, and what key points in your live data or freeze frame data such as fuel trims look like.

You also have not told us whether you have an automatic or manual transmission or what the mileage is.

@chucktobias Evap code p0456 About 99k miles 4 door sedan Automatic transmission 1.6liter 4cyl engine I’ve had misfire issue recently that was bringing up a code and it ended up being the ignition coils that were the issue I haven’t done anything for the evap issue I’ve only recently started worrying about it because of a gas smell in car after long rides or filling up tank what exactly do you mean by fuel trims? Some things that I’ve got fixed since getting the vehicle-I’ve replaced battery got a wiring issue fixed on the car with a wire that runs from the alternator to the battery and replaced a transmission cooler line since I’ve because of a small oil leak
