Chevy malibu key fob

I have a 2007 chevy malibu and the key fob is just not wanting to work. I replaced the battery and it didn't work. There is nothing visually wrong with the board or the buttons. What do you think the problem may be? Do I have to take it to a dealer to get reprogrammed?

Well if your key fob it's not working then you change the batteries. You probably need a new key fob. I always tell people to keep at least one in their pocket and another known one in a drawer in their house so they have a spare. If you don't have a spare, you're going to have to pay a locksmith or tow your car to a dealer to get it to work. If you do have a spare key, use that and then drive to a locksmith and have him make you a copy

I would look around for the instructions to re-program the key fob to the car...would be worth a try ...
