Morning all i have a 04 Corolla hatch.like scotty matrix. same engine.VVTi 1.8.the last oil change i was running 10w-30 semi synthetic. as the car only has 136,000 kilometres. as it is low mileage in Toyota's eyes.i changed to 5w-30 FULL synthetic.this was 9 months ago. No prob's. NOW people are telling me i SHOULD run 10w-30 due to the mileage & age? manual said its fine to use what i'm using now i wish to change oil what do i do? go BACK to 10? or stay on 5? i'm so confused. my climate here is hot summers, mild winters. CHEERS!

Stick to the oil spec in your owner’s manual.
TA! 4 the reply Mate! i'll take your advice and stay with 5. as "preferred" in the manual.these VVTi can be a touch sensitive to changes and as she is a well kept oldish girl now i could ill afford 6+ grand in a rebuilt GEE the cars market value is only 4. cheers.
