How to change the coolant in my Honda?

hi... Im not afraid to work on my car.... but I dont know how to search for 'ow to change the coolant on an '09 Honda'....dont you have to remove the water pump? That is what scares me. Help?

What he failed to tell you is that you must set your heat selector on "High" to make sure air doesn't get trapped in the heater core.

Thank you @Doc. I see they sell the funnel kits at AutoZone. You guys are SO helpful, it seems every last mechanic in Chicago is a RIP OFF.

Be careful to burp all the air out of the cooling system after replacing the fluid.


So he says "with the T stat open"... Im no mechanic. Does that mean HVAC on with fans?? I trust NO ONE!! I have to do this myself.

You set the temperature in the cab to High and wait until the T-Stat (thermostat) opens so that the new coolant circulates through the heater core and expels all the air.  You'll know the thermostat is open when the upper radiator hose is hot and you get a normal reading on your temperature gauge.
