Hi, my 2007 volkswagen jettq city with the 2.0 engine and an auto transmission is throwing up 2 codes, p0420 and p2181. I just got this car and it didn't have any codes and other than a sticking caliper it's been fine. Until I decided to really give it the gas and then it threw the codes. What is the most likely issue because I don't wanna invest too much on this car since I got it for free thanks

Knowing Volkswagens odds are the catalytic converter is going bad and that is a very expensive repair. But if it runs okay and you got the car for free heck just drive it that way. Had a customer drive one years that way ran okay but It kept tripping the cat code
