Hello. Is it possible to use just water if doing a cooling system flush and is it effective?

When I do a cooling system flush, I do it with plain water, then blow out the system with compressed air to get it all out. Then refill and burp with 50/50 coolant. Make sure the heater is on "high" to clean out the heater core too.

There is a video where Scotty uses a hose with running water to clean the coolant passages. If you are going to drive with water, it should be only distilled water. Effective? Chrisfix had to use distilled water 4 times in one of his videos to completely flash the coolant and have the same color like a new coolant afterwards.
