Hey Scotty I have a 1980 corvette 12,000 miles. When I drive it I do highway driving. I pulled out the original transmission and put in a 700r4. Good move? I had to have the car painted so it was unoriginal and I thought screw it... it lost its originality when the car had to be painted because someone keyed it

Sure why not? It's not like those cars bring a ton of money even when all original. Scotty would probably say to hang on to the original parts in case someone down the road wants to turn it back to original. I'd say it is a waste of space IMO and just enjoy your car.
It was the perfect time to do it as well.
