Creaking noise when braking on 2004 Corolla LE automatic

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2004 Corolla automatic with 160,000 km (103,000 mi) on it . At 142,000 km in 2015, i had new pads rotors callipers, rear drums and shoes replaced.

At 150,000 km in 2018, the same shop replaced the front L & R inner wheel bearings and sway bar links, at my request. As soon as I picked it up from the mechanic, the front brakes made a horrible sound when braking. Don’t know why the mechanic didn’t notice when he parked it. I drove it around the building back to the open bay doors and asked him to get in to hear it. He did and said he had to make an adjustment. Got it back and it was better but to this day, it still makes a sort of clunking/creaking sound when I brake. Took it to Toyota dealership and they said the brakes were fine, and said they could replace them but also said if you can live with the noise, the brakes are good to go. Installed quick struts (my bad) at 155,000 km in 2019 thinking it would fix the sound. It did not.

The clunking/creaking is really irritating so i’m thinking I will change the pads and rotors with Akebono pads and Genuine Toyota rotors.

Do you think this will solve my issue?

It might but you can get creaking noises from so many things the backing plates could be that when they did the bearings they could have over tightened the bearings when they put them on and the axle not lots of things going to make noises. Try my video finding the source of car noises Scotty
