Hey Scotty, I got a 1999 Honda CR-V, it’s close to 300k km and started to roar even louder with a loud fan noise when accelerating in gear 1 and 2, and the exhaust noise also sounds raspy and like a fart can now. it was running perfectly a month ago and i do regular oil changes on the crv but i never gotten the transmission fluid changed ever since i got it a year ago.
The Catalytic converters rust out on those. If so, the noise will be under the center dash.
Just drain and fill the transmission with Honda fluid (you need a little over 3 quarts).
Also, drain and fill the rear differential with Honda fluid (it takes a little over 1 quart).
Look for videos online. The drain and fill procedures are pretty simple.

Did you check for any leak in the exhaust?
I do smell gas fumes, did some research and I’m pretty sure it’s the resonator. Thanks for the help
