Good evening Scotty I have a 2019 dodge charger rt and was looking to have cylinder deactivation turned off.  Can I certain a cheaper scan tool in the $200 range and shut it off myself or take it somewhere and have it done

Some say if you drive in sport mode or manual shift mode that will disable cylinder deactivation.

But it's only temporary, @chucktobias

Ideally, you would need a bi-directional scan tool to do that and they go for far more than $200.

That being said, you MAY be able to do it with HPTuners software on a laptop or computer.  I know it can be easily used to disable cylinder deactivation for GM vehicles but not sure if it can do Dodge products;  I wouldn’t be surprised if it can do it.

I recommend you check out HPTuners website and they have a forum as well to see if it will work on your Charger.  If it does, then see how much the software costs (can also be used for other things like reading your vehicle’s parameters like OBDII scanner);  it might be a good investment.  However, it may or may not be more cost effective to just have a performance shop de-tune it for you.
