Scotty,
my dealership were i bought my 2020 F150 melted the interior carpet and under passenger dash trying to dry the carpeting from the A/C condenser drain leaking into the interior. i told the service mgr. and tech NOT to touch the inside of my truck as i was leaving for vacation that day. i only wanted the "fix" of ford service bulletin to add the elbow to the condenser drain. i told them they could replace the carpeting when i return from vacation. they called me 2 hours later stating they melted my floor and dash. the whole interior smells of burn plastics and smoke. what should the dealership do? what should ford do? what can i do? would your ask for a new truck?
thanks Jarred in PA
They need to gut the interior, replace carpet, headliner, moulding, everything. And deodorize. Make it better than before. And something extra for your troubles.
I"m surprised they admitted to it. Most dealerships will do anything to avoid responsibility for their actions and would claim it was like that when it was brought in.
Probably they should replace the carpeting and damaged dashboard parts and use an ozone generator to get rid of any smell.
Did they admit their mistake in writing? If not, you're probably SOL without legal representation.

The dealership should fix what they damaged, plain and simple. That is beyond inexcusable, but then again you got monkeys working there. Escalate if you have to, but make them fix it. They already admitted to damaging it, so use that as leverage.
Thank you everyone for your input and insight.
The dealership has had my truck for 83 days and counting!
they called me in to check the "finished" work august 10th, i found numerous damaged trim pieces, door sills, center console and more items not fit properly, loose, more damage etc. (smoke smell still present)
I still have not had a conversation with GM or owners of the dealership of how they are going to correct the damage, loss of value and my over all satisfaction with Ford, Ford customer care has been a joke to keep it PG.
i wish i could add a picture of the damage and a before pic, when dropped the truck off for service the tech and mgr both commented on how the detailer that cleaned my truck the day before was the beat they have seen. the truck is black on black xlt sport, blacked out everything tinted, wheel well liners, tinted fronts...the detailer even cleaned the engine!
