I currently have a 2012 v6 mustang with some engine & exhaust modifications. I bought it used at 90k miles and I do occasionally "beat the crap out of it" while driving. I am now at 130k miles and have had 1 issue. Water pump went 20k miles ago and I got it replaced.
I recently bought a ford escape as a primary vehicle so I'm looking to replace my current Mustang with another one. I'm debating between a 2012-2014 Shelby GT500 and a newer (2016-2020) Mustang GT. I am aware of the GT having a better suspension and overall handleability being better, but I'm mainly looking for a car with a lot of power as a fun car rather than an overall daily driver.
I basically want to know a few things:
- Reliability between the Shelby vs the GT. (EST miles I'll get out of it with good maintenance)
- Transmissions. Mainly which one is going to be better overall (The GT would be manual as well as the Shelby).
- Which vehicle is going to hold It's value the longest?
- How are the Recaro seats in the Shelby vs the usual leather seats?

The seats in the Shelby for sure feel more like it's meant to hold you in place. The Shelby is more like an investment as they will likely go up in price. As long as you don't put too many miles on it you should be able to sell it for a similar price if not more. Pretty sure the Shelby comes with an upgraded clutch so transmission should not be an issue.
Make sure you keep maintenance records and everything that you do to the car as well. These increase resale value.
