Diesel engine in a gas truck

Scottie,

I am getting started in flipping vehicles as a side hustle.  Been going great so far.  Looking at an 02 gas powered Ford F350 6.8 L Triton - V10 automatic 4x4 with 140k on the odometer for a steal - $2,500 (please do not share price publicly).  The only flaw I see is some grill & front bumper damage.

The real issue is that that the owner says the engine had been "rebuilt" meaning something vague about the gaskets and head bolts being new.  Seams like for that price and the condition of the rest of the truck that putting an upgraded remanufactured engine from a dependable source in it would enable me to sell the vehicle for quite a profit.

1. Do you think the work to flip this truck worth it based on this information, given the rising sales price of used trucks at this time?

2. Would it be feasible to go in with a diesel power stroke or would you stick to a high powered gas engine?

With curiosity and thanks,

Max
