Dodge Caravan 2005 248K
The normal operation is when you forget to turn off the headlights, there will be a ding ding ding when you open the driver door until you turn the knob to turn the headlights off. Mine did that so I turned the knob. The headlights went off, but the ding ding ding did not. Not even after restarting a couple of times and driving home with the dome light on.
When I got back in the car at my destination, I don't remember the dome light being on, but the ding ding ding was still going when I opened the door. My recollection is that the dome light came on as I was backing out of the parking space. I checked all the doors to make sure they were closed even though I had only opened the driver door on that trip. It stayed on the whole way home and wouldn't go off when I shut off the car. I pulled out the dome light fixture and unseated one end of the bulb so my battery wouldn't be dead in the morning.
What would cause these phenomenons and are they linked?
Bonus mystery ailment: My oil light came on yesterday but went off after I turned a corner and hasn't come back on since.
Turns out that I have one of those rolly dimmer things next to the headlights knob. I learned about it from this guy:

I went out and the dimmer was clicked into an all the way up position where there are just dots instead of words so how would you know what it was. I rolled it out of that position and the dome light stayed off. The ding ding ding also went away. I've never touched that dimmer before so maybe I accidentally bumped it turning off the headlights yesterday.
I would assume that you're door switch is breaking down if that dome light stays on if not that it's got a shorten the computer module that drives it
