Why are oil dipsticks unreadable? Old cars had metal dipsticks with 2 holes and nice crosshatch and were easy to read, new ones are like big plastic swizzle sticks and defy logic.
Cuz they make everything as cheap as humanly possible these days
Get your self a paint pen, and , after cleaning the dipstick with carb cleaner, paint on the section between the low and full marks. Now, when you look at the dipstick, you'll be able to see the oil level easily.
100% agree. Impossible to read unless the oil is quite dirty.
But somebody thought, "Hey look! We can save 5 cents!"
Yea, At least some have holes in em, those aren’t to bad. I worked on a Cruze couple weeks ago. It had no marks at all. No holes. NOTHIN. Aftermarket replacement. Owner said the sheet of paper that came with said to measure the oil, between 1 1/2 to 2” was full. 🤬🤬🤬
