I have a 97 Celica ST 5 speed hatchback 1.8L silver similar to the one you own. It has 266,000 miles. I want to replace the distributor since I believe it's the original one from the factory. I bought the car with 135,000 miles and have never replaced it. What after market brand distributor do you have on your car since the Dealer part is a little expensive? Thanks

well if the original Denso can last 26 years, then you'd be crazy not to stick with that.
Scotty advised using an aftermarket Chinese distributor for old Hondas.
I don't see why his opinion would be any different for old Toyotas

I didn't know, distributors are a service part at all..
Well you can not get the original factory assembly anymore. The Cap, Rotor, and Ignition Coil are "not" going to last forever!! DUH!! and ERDY-DERDY! Could somebody read and answer the original question, please?

Settle down, please. Try to speak as if people are standing right in front of you, and you're not hiding behind your device screen.
Thanks.
