I'm thinking of getting a new tacoma (2022) SR with V6 2wd, mud tires only in the back wheels, 17 inch tires on all wheels, a skid plate and a winch in the front.
I plan on doing trails offroad and staying on trails. No rock crawling or steep hills. (I haven't encountered too steep hills in the northwest)
Do I need 4wd? I'm not worried about resale value. When are the exact situations you need 4wd?
I have a 2011 prerunner V6, 2WD. I love the thing but not a day goes by that I don’t wish that I had 4WD. Pulling people out of places, off roading and getting stuck in mud, you name it. If you aren’t short on money, my advice is that it’s better to have it than to need it.
I would get 4wd since the northwest has snow. Since your putting a winch you never know if you need to drag a car out of the ditch.
