Do I need to replace ignition coils?

I requested a quote from a shop for tune up (spark plugs change and wires inspection, transfer case fluid change, and drive belt change).

They gave me an unrequested quote for igntion coils change, $126 a piece. If they say I need to have some of my ignition coils changed, what proof should I ask the shop?

2011 Chevrolet Traverse LS 122000 miles, automatic transmission. Not sure if and when 100k mile service was performed. Drives fine. P0420 code but doesn't affect drivability.

I feel like it's an unneeded upsell

If you have only that code, I think the same

Thanks. Duralube cleared the code for 180 miles then it came back. I don't think I should care about it. We don't do emissions test where I live.

2011 Chevrolet Traverse LS 122000 miles.

Got P0420 code. No driveability issues, yet.

Poured in Duralube severe exhaust cleaner in my gas tank, it worked for 180 miles.

My question: Should I care about P0420? We don't do yearly emissions test where I live.

Will it affect drivability in the future? How do I prevent it?

Check out to see what is actually wrong and then ask.
