Automatic transmissions are usually specifically designed for a particular vehicle & engine combo. In a modern car, it’s going to be virtually impossible as you’ll have just too many problems with all the sensors needing reprogramming. 

Get a Japanese vehicle with a Japanese transmission instead. Much more reliable than what you’re proposing. 

I totally agree with the above comment. One more thing is that for those vans, automatic transmission is one of the many issues you will have. These vans will also have electrical problem, electronic problems, ... as they age.

huh, strange my family has gone through 3 of various years and never had a transmission issue
