Does automatic transmissions bearn fluid when they get old or not?

I would say not burn but will get dirt by use and particles loosen by the clutch disks. Burned oil could be by flooring and driving extremely agresive, no matter if the transmission is relatively new.

When the clutches burn up the oil will darken and smell burnt also
