I have heard of Rev Matching a car and wonder if there any danger doing this while driving? bliping the trottle before engaging the clutch.
is there less wear? supposedly there is. But I not sure. during Downshifts only.
It can ease strain and wear on the synchronizers especially if they're worn. When done right the trans will slip right into the selected gear with little or no resistance.
It's a technique that was used universally early on for shifting both up and down before the invention and deployment of transmission synchronizers. (Synchros were first used on the 1928 Cadillac and quickly spread.) Non-synchro transmissions were known as "crash boxes" due to the gear clash that commonly occurred when shifting.
