Does type of gasoline brand matter?

Does it matter what type of gas station you go to to fill up your gas tank? My mom only goes to gas stations that are cheaper.

Yes. Too Tier is much better.

Considering this is Scotty's site, he would say it all comes from the same refineries, so, no, it doesn't really matter.  (He has several videos that address the topic)

If you go to stations rated with "top-tier" gas (which I personally prefer), there will be certain desirable additives in the gas (think, Chevron "techron"), but I expect you will get some debate here over how important that is.

In terms of Scotty's claims it's true the base stock is the same. Top Tier refers to an approved mix of additives that mitigate against deposit build-up.

Because Scotty has a graduate level education background, I'm surprised and disappointed he did not evaluate independent test results. Essentially, Scotty has no evidence to back up his claim. On the other side, there are replicable tests that have been done and results published.

I suppose it all depends on whether one lends credibility to the scientific method of truth production.

I remember Scotty mentioning sometimes his customers would have engine problems, and they would switch to a different gas station and the problem would go away. Some places like Chevron have higher quality gas than other places, but the significance of that is up to debate.

I've used mostly Marathon for 25 years. Never had any issues.

See below:  On which gas to use, I just stick with Top Tier gas, and of those I get the one that is cheaper (so Arco near me).
