I have a BIG problem and running out of money. My ECM board game loose after an accident. Later I tied it to tie it to the engine body and then hit a huge pothole and it came loose and hit the ground and then shut off the car. So I bought a refurbished one that was programmed for me. I snapped it on and the car will still not start. The ford my key fault reading shows up when I try and start the engine. I have a Ford Focus 2014. Does the key need to be reconfigured too??? Help please!!!😐
Most likely the ECM needs to be programmed to accept the code on your key. Some cars, some locksmiths can program the new ECM to accept that key. Some, you have to have a dealer re-do the ECM programming. Call a locksmith or two first - most will come to the car, which is much better than towing it to a dealer.
You might want to first check that the sensors and wiring that tells the ECM the car is in Neutral/Park and the brake is depressed - a jolt that would kick an ECM loose, could do other damage, too.
