I purchased a used Toyota avensis 2002 2.0 Liter with automatic transmission recently (Europe) in a good condition, but later found out that the ect pwr function has no effect on the shifting whatsoever. The green light(ect pwr) in the dashboard is illuminating however.
Any experience with this issue before?

I've never actually seen the system break on its own but you bought it used there's no saying what's been done it could have been racked flooded stolen somebody could have replaced the transmission not connected the wires and everything I would have a good mechanic with a Toyota scan tool analyze it and see but of course first check to make sure all the wires are snapped in and tight and there's no corrosion in any of the connectors
