1999 f150 needed to replace rear end on truck. Removing emergency brake cables required destroying the circular clips that retrain the cables to the brake backing plate. Anyone know where i can get replacements? thanks guys
Almost all auto parts stores sell them in little plastic bags on the DIY isle or something like that.
Some cables have the semi circular e-clips that should easily pry off with a screw driver.
good tip, HOWever i have already removed the cables, damagind the cast in place retainers. mabye prying remaining fingers to retain cable on reinstall? or mabye some after market spring clips what do you think might work best thanks for the help. p.s. this kind of thing is what happens when an unexperienced 66 yr old dude has to replace trashed rear end.. again thanks for your help
I'm Thinking one or two of the E-clips might work between the fingers and the hole in the retainer to hold the cable in place? Take a look in the DIY isle in a local auto parts store like @doc suggested before bending the fingers. You might find something that will do the trick. Good luck.
thanks for the suggestions just went ahead and ordered new cables. dont like to mess around with brake repairs, as i used to do when i was younger again, thanks again im sure that ill be back here sooner than later. this rear end replacement is really kicking my ass..
A wise move. I don't envy your task. Good luck with it.
