Hi scotty, I have a 1992 Lexus sc400 4.0 liter v8 with w58 swap with 112,000 miles. One day I drove the car and the next morning I noticed a big oil spot in my driveway. Check the oil and it had leaked out about a quart. I topped off the motor and it slowly leaked another half quart then mysteriously stopped leaking oil. What could have caused my Lexus to blow out that much oil at once then suddenly stop? The oil puddle appeared to be concentrated on the passenger side.
Thank you
Bill
That's quite a lot of oil to leak all at once/twice. You don't have any idea as to where the leak originated?
If it was me, I'd have that car up on a rack with an experienced mechanic right away, checking for loose fittings, oil cooler connectors, etc.
Nothing can grenade an engine faster than sudden loss of oil.
Check the valve cover gasket, but if you don't see any leaking from there, I would get the product recommended in Scotty's video here, and follow his process/take his advice.

As for what could have caused it... Gaskets are finnicky things. Could have been cold and heat taking its toll on a worn out piece of rubber.
