Hey Scotty, love your work. I have a 2018 sonic 1.4 turbo with 50,000km here in canada. i bought this car for 10 less than new when it was 2 yrs old. it runs great for what it is and i only put about 8000km on it a year. when i took it to GM just to have an oil change they tried to sell me a $700 dollar service. I got the oil change and that was all. My question is, what does GM mean when they tried to sell me something called engine compression restoration as preventitive maitenance? why would an engine need this? and what is this? thanx Scotty

Ask them. They're the ones selling it.

Thought i was asking Scotty kilmer a question, am i in the wrong place?

Sounds like a scam. If your compression were bad, first of all it wouldn't be running great, and second of all the only way to rectify it would be to rebuild or replace the engine. For the $700 they want to nail you for they would probably "restore compression" by pouring a can of STP into the oil that they bought at WalMart for $5.

yep it sounded quit stupid to me as well , the service person could not explain what it was exactly as well . thanx for the response.

Chuck to the rescue!

You are in the right place.  The dealership is trying to sell you BS.
