Scotty,
I viewed your video on this subject and my 1998 K1500 5.7L V8 pickup starts with starting fluid. Fuel pump appears to be working as disconnected fuel line at engine and gas sprayed forcefully. What is recommended next item to check. Thank you.
Mark
Check fuse for injectors. Also, I'd put a gage on the fuel rail si I would KNOW that the pressure is good. My 5.3 doesn't stay running with less than 30 psi which would still spray quite a bit ; ) And yea, I've put a few fuel pumps in her over the years.
You were right HillBilly, pressure is only 30 psig. What's strange is that my current fuel pump is only 1 year old and I put less than 8,000 miles on this truck per year. I changed the fuel filter also last year. Not looking forward to dropping the tank again!
Lifting bed is easier imo. If suv (not you) cut hole/flap in back floor under seat. Replace pump, fold flap down and metal tape. What I do and the last time mine failed I changed it in the parking lot where it failed in less than 30 minutes ; )
edit, note sigy.. trying to get some training/improvements on the site operations ; ) Thank you.
fuel pumps vary GREATLY in quality.
