Hey Scott! I hope your doing great.

I have a Honda CRV 2008 with 115,000 miles on it.

Officially its been suggested that I should be using a 5w-20 oil for my engine. I live in a hot part of world. Temperature here can go as high as 49 degrees celcius. Previous owner has been using 10w-40.

What do you suggest, what oil should I use?

Use whatever oil your owner's manual recommends for those conditions. If you don't have an owner's manual you can download it here:

https://owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2008/CR-V/manuals

Page 281 of the manual indicates to use 5W20 under all conditions.
