Vehicle: 2017 Civic,  45,000 miles, manual transmission

I have to do my 45,000 mile engine oil and filter replacement.  Will replacing engine oil with  Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil (API certified) instead of Honda Genuine Oil damage my engine?  Costco had a sale for the Mobil 1 oil.  But I've been replacing with Honda Genuine Oil all this time.  Thank you

As long as the engine oil meets the specifications/standards outlined in your owner’s manual, it doesn’t matter which brand of oil you use.  Be sure to also use a premium oil filter with every oil change.

Honda makes cars, not oil. The "Honda" oil is just another major oil brand with a different label.

The logo on the front of the bottle doesn't matter. The specs on the back do.

This questions comes up so much that we took the time to write an article about it in the FAQ so we aren't constantly repeating ourselves.

You should always check there first, and this isn't the first time we've reminded you.
