1999 F250 Super Duty 5.4L 5spd. Manual 4x4 239,000 miles. Sometimes when shifting between 3 to 4 or from 4 to 5 the engine will on its own rev up to exactly 3,000 RPM. It happens most often from 4 to 5. What might be causing this issue. (Foot is not touching the throttle pedal) has been doing this for the last 100,000 miles

Does it have enough ATF in it? Has the transmission been serviced regularly? It'll need to go to a tranny expert for diagnosis, but chances are it's just wearing out.
