Hey scotty thanks for making your amazing videos , i have MG RX8 and i want to ask if i should use thicker oil the manufacturer recommend 5w30 keep in mind my engine is 2.0T from GM exactly the engine as same as Cadillac XT4 2.0T , i live in middle east and normal temperature is 50c+ ( 125F+ , recently i tried 5W40 and i felt engine got alot quieter , and in cold start the engine stopped shaking ( in cold weather only around 20c , 68F) , so should i stay on 5w40 or should i do as the manufacture says ? , keep in mind i use luqi moly german oil 10K km full synthetic oil and i change it around 4500~5000km , at 5k 5w30 usually get burnt alot faster than 5w40. so witch oil viscosity should i use ? 5W30 or 5W40?.

keep in mind my car millage 32K KM dosent consume oil ,  just around normal 55ml every oil change.

my impression on chinese car ( MG RX8 2020 )

first the engine is originally from GM then opel bought the engine and modified it then SAIC MOTORS ( MG ) bought it from opel and they modified it , the difference is the engine block is from cast iron NOT aluminum  , turbo from Garret USA company , transmission from AISIN 6 speed AUTO originally from toyota prado or fortiner or FJ cruiser , 4WD system from GM ( Borger warner ) you can find it on GMC youkon or Sirrea 2015 , from and rear Solid diff from FORD Ranger , and the wiring and electrinc system from BOSCH such as wiring and colis etc.. , and the good part the car design is body on frame , supention system from McPherson

Things that i hate about MG RX8

transmission cooler is horrible , on 120f ouside the tranny oil temp 106c idealing in P for more than 8min , when you are stuck in traffic or going 140+KM/H tranny temp whould go as high as 117c , and i fixed this issue by installing TRUECOOL 40K and tranny oil temp dropped from 117C to 78c idealing it gone down from 108~ to 68c~72c , second issue i dont know why the manufacture cheapen out on differential oil and used the cheapest option i change the diff oil at 10k km and trust me it was black with tiny bit of unusual shread amount , and cheap oil on transfer case , the fix i repeced them on my own with AMSOIL 80W90 DIFF , AMSOIL ATF RED for transfer case , plus when i was on integrated tranny cooler on the radiator the transmission oil was starting to burn and change to really dark red and i smelled like burnt olive oil , i fixed it by using AMSOIL ATF Blue and Oil cooler.

i know im low millage but i know other people that own the car using cheap oils and normal maintenance they got 270K KM no issues other that things that i described , usually BMW or Mercedes wont last 200k plus due to hot weather really affect there life.

keep in mind i really do take a good care of my car i even care about the turbo after trip more than 10min i do wait 30~60 seconds before shutdown the car just for the turbo to cool down and dont have issues in the future.

You live in such hot area yeah you could go up every year if you wanted to. Thanks for sharing the info they don't sell those things here and basically now they're just making SUVs they gave up with their sports car line
