Hello Scotty, first of all thank you for sharing your experience with the world!
Now to my 2013 F150 5.0 FX4 has 170k miles - Since a few weeks when the engine starts cold - it starts okay, but when I start it up warm it sounds like the starter continues the crank for 1-2 seconds extra, you know that horrible sound. I scanned the car with the Forscan and I have no faults. Is this a bendix issue or I should look for something else? *the car has automatic start, when I crank it - i just touch the key in start position then it cranks by itself until it runs..
Second sound is when I drive in 4x4-high I hear a banging sound from the passenger side of the car, when I am climbing a hill at speed, this means under load. I have changed the vacuum lines completely also changed the vacuum hub-s or 4WD actuators, and the teeth on both CV-joint and HUB-bearing are all good and not damaged.
The sound is available on this video ( https://youtu.be/l8k1fU4QLEY )
Cheers!
K.
Well I'd replace the starter. That's where they drive noise for. Its off and do that there four-wheel drive systems where and make noises like that. For my experience it's often internal to the CV axles themselves at the wheels
