First Car Help

I’m looking for a first car with a budget of about $5000-$6000. I love Toyotas and Hondas because of their reliability and gas mileage. I just need some advice on some good cars for a first car at 18 years old. Saved up this money through hard work so I’d love for the car to last long. I have every intention to baby and care for the car as much as possible. Thanks!

Do your research on models to avoid that have problems such as oil burning or weak transmissions. (Scotty has talked about these in his videos.) Have any vehicle you are considering checked out by a mechanic who has a fancy scan tool to check the electronics in addition to seeing that there are no serious mechanical issues.

Toyota Corolla or Camry, Honda Civic and Accord are good options for the first car. In this forum, there are many posts in this regard. Also, as @Chuck Tobias said, avoid bad model years.

Also, take a look at our car buying sticky created for members that are looking:

It will be tougher in this market which shows no signs of returning to normal anytime soon.
