Flex Fuel every now and then

I have a 3.5 non turbo Taurus Flex Fuel car and wondered if it would be helpful to run E85 periodically as I know it cleans better than gasoline. I’ve only every ran gas in this car as e85 cuts my mpgs but willing to take the loss if it cleans my engine better.

You haven't exactly right you'll get much worse gas mileage but it does clean the engine not a bad idea

I heard that adding a pint of acetone to gasoline periodically will clean things out but I am skeptical. Acetone is an industrial solvent and could damage rubber and plastic parts. If it's a flex fuel vehicle E85 should at least do no damage.

You get more power when running flex fuel...I'd say it's definitely worth the mpg drop since E85 is cheaper than pump gas anyways.

Yes, E85 good for your fuel pump too.
